I attach my recent article for your attention and comments. As the article states, silence is not enough, so how can we find a voice? Nurses and educators need to be engaged in maintaining the debate that this paper starts. The silence in Japan is deafening, nuclear issues are not popular and are always seen as some one else's problem. The truth of power touches us all and the only answer to this is the power of truth. Education, action research, disaster planning, researching alternative energy resources and health promotion to name but a few areas; cross over disciplines and can only be addressed by inter-professional co-operation and innovations. One voice in the wilderness is never heard but the voices of many can bring about the winds of change. If you can find the time in your active and busy lives, I respectfully ask you to download the paper and circulate to your colleagues. Write to the editor of the International Council of Nurses journal, the International Nursing Review and keep the debate alive. Your comments and ideas will reach 135 countries. Your words and understandings may bring hope to many as educators and as healthcare professional that many of you are. I also know that you have courage and integrity and with that courage and commitment we can become agents for change. I thank you for listening.
My deepest respects.
