I'm wondering what could emerge from exploring the implications of Alan's last point that:
"The evolutionary sustainability of living processes rests on the capacity to
attune patterns of energy flow with continually changing contextual
circumstances."
In his doctoral thesis Je Kan makes the following point about his original contribution to
educational knowledge:
"An energy-flowing, living standard of inclusionality as a space creator for engaged listening and
informed learning is offered as an original contribution to knowledge."
(See http://people.bath.ac.uk/edsajw/jekan.shtml)
Congratulations to Dr. Je Kan Adler-Collins - the examiners' recommendations on his doctoral
thesis were accepted by the University of Bath last week, so Je Kan is now officially a Dr. )
I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the use of visual narratives to communicate meanings
of energy-flowing values. In her doctoral research programme Marian writes:
"I will also describe how my engagement with the thinking of others has enabled my own practice
to develop and from that to develop a living, inclusional and responsive theory of my practice.
Through this research and the writing of this thesis, I now also understand that my ontological
commitment to a passion for compassion has its roots in significant events in my past."
(see http://people.bath.ac.uk/edsajw/naidoo.shtml )
I'd really like you to watch the 1 minute 3 second video of a carer and cared for with Marian from
the following link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxJIuUVE0qA
to see if we can share Marian's understanding of a passion for compassion - Marian is behind the
camera and I am wondering what you feel as you watch the communication towards the end of the
clip with Marian? Do you feel a passion for compassion? Does the clip communicate anything
about 'attuning patterns of energy flow' and/or 'An energy-flowing, living standard of
inclusionality as a space creator for engaged listening and informed learning' ?
Here are some details about Marian:
"Marian is the National Lead for Participatory Arts and Improvement for the Care Services
Improvement Partnership - CSIP. At the moment she is working on the National Social Inclusion
Programme - NSIP. Her title represents almost a lifetime of work and is significant because it
acknowledges the transformational potential of Arts and Culture. Marian is working on 3 main
areas - firstly a Pilot with 6 theatres the purpose of which is for them to become leaders in social
inclusion - both in how they respond to their local communities but also them as employers. They
are coming together in an action learning set in order to reflect and learn from each other. This
will then be widened to include all theatres. Secondly Marian is working with practitioners in order
to support them as they develop a culture of evaluation. This will enable them to understand their
practice in order to both improve their practice and to evaluate the impact of their arts practice.
Thirdly Marian is spearheading through the 8 CSIP regional development centres partnerships
between our DCs Arts Council regional leads public heath, commissioners and arts practitioners.
The purpose of this is to develop Arts and cultural well being hubs where the debate can happen
in order to move the arts agenda forward. Marian is also supporting the evaluation of Singing your
heart out - this group works inclusionally with local community and has been able to support
people back into employment."
Love Jack.
