Yaakub's posting of the 16th November is one of the most affirming responses I've ever received
in my life-time as an educator. Thankyou Yaakub - I'm still glowing with the pleasure!
In relation to my life as an educational researcher what I'm now wondering about is how to judge
my continuing contributions to educational theory and knowledge in relation to world leading
practitioner-research. In seeking to contribute to this research I shall submit every few months or
so an account of my educational influences in my learning, in the learning of others and in the
learning of the social formations in which i live and work in the hope that you will help me to
improve my contributions. I also hope that the account may interest and be of some use to you in
yours.
Like Mohsen's statements of belief I offer my notes for the two day Institute on Living The
Standards at the Ontario College of Teachers on the 20-21 November, to explain the focus of my
enquiries.
My focus is on the ethical standards and standards of practice of the OCT, the visual narratives
being produced by practitioner-researchers in their masters and doctoral programmes at the
University of Bath and the partnership between Brock University and the Grand Erie District School
Board in Canada which enabled a cohort of some 13 practitioner-researchers to study for and
receive their masters degrees between 2000-2002. I'd be grateful if you could browse through the
case I am making for this focus at http://www.jackwhitehead.com/jack/jwoct06presentation.htm
and help me with any suggstions for realising my aspiration of contributing to world leading
practitioner-research in creating a world of educational quality.
Love Jack.
