Dear All
I am drawn to the image of 'zooming in and zooming out' which I found useful in
Rachel's posting some days ago. Apologies that I haven't been an actively
participating recently in this symposium but I have been too busy engaged in
living practitioner research to write about it... When I read Jack's account:
re. In this account there is a visual narrative that helps me to express (and I
hope communicate) my meaning of the flow of life-affirming energy. Here is the
extract I'm thinking of:
>
> "Expressing and representing inclusionality
>
> I am using the following 45 second video-clips to communicate my experience
> and meaning of inclusionality.
I suddenly realised that Jack had (unwittingly and that's undoubtedly the most
authentic way) endorsed my own influence as a practitioner in his own account.
Did you zoom out to consider who took the video? Did you consider perhaps it
took itself? Was it taken from a tripod? No - I showed you through my loving
eye as a living photographer what it was to be present at the celebration of
Jackie's success. You - and Jack - only see what I selected i.e. what I chose
to record of the event. I framed the shot to show the group - to draw together
the throng in celebration and at the time I was very much a part of the group
though I am now excluded by Jack, no longer invited or welcome to participate.
So if Jack shows you video or stills do ask whose spiritual practice is really
being represented here? And if taking an extract of someone's writing without
citing the author is malpractice what is appropriating video without citation?
Love - not rhetoric
