Welcome to Ron Tinsley, Associate Professor of Education at Richard Stockton College, Pomona, New Jersey, USA. Ron writes:
"I have been conducting action research with my colleague Kimberly Lebak at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey for the past five years. Our work is going strong and continues to build momentum. We are currently finalizing an article on our work since 2005 written from the "I" of the researcher--an article we decided we should write following our experiences in Denver." Here are some of Ron's details:
Ron works with pre-service and in-service teachers to help them develop as reflective practitioners. For the past five years, Ron and his colleague, Kimberly Lebak (also Associate Professor of Education) have been helping in-service teachers conduct action research in their own practice following a unique model that includes expanded opportunities for collaborative reflection with peers, collaboration with students, and extensive use of video of their teaching practices at all levels of their research. During 2009-2010 Ron and Kim presented their work at the EDGE Conference in St. John's, Newfoundland, NSDC in St. Louis, AACTE in Atlanta, and AERA in Denver. An article on their work, "Expanding the Zone of Reflective Capacity: Taking Separate Journeys Together," can be found at: http://journals.library.wisc.edu/index.php/networks/article/view/190/211 .
Dear Ron (and all), I think that you might enjoy the work of Linnea Rademaker at the Center for Practitioner Research at National-Louis University. There is a website of the Centre, which is constantly in development at www.nl.edu/cfpr .
There is also the Journal 'Inquiry in Education', of which Lonnie Rowell and Linnea spoke about at the 2010 AERA conference in Denver - see the direct link:
http://digitalcommons.nl.edu/ie/ .
We can view the first issue of Inquiry in Education directly from the above link. Along with messages from the dean at National-Louis University and the editors of the journal, we can find articles by Ernie Stringer, Bill Ayers, Harriet Fayne, Karen Gallas, and Marjorie Rogasner. We can also read a book review of Pine’s (2009) text on action research, and a description of Pepperdine’s center by Margaret Riel.
Here are some links to video-clips Linnea has sent through from the Practitioner Research Colloquium of January, 2009 of National-Louis University.
