Hi Jack and all,

Our contributions at the art of good health and wellbeing conference are a
presentation from me on Wednesday 11th November and our workshop is on
Thursday 12th November. We will also be involved in an international "show
and tell" of people who are working with film and video on Friday 13th. The
Arts and Health Australia team have very kindly given us use of their office
on Saturday 14th so we will have access to the internet that day. We are
filming both our sessions - so long as technology is accommodating and our
14th being before your 14th - we should be able to make a contribution.
Port Macquarie will be 11 hrs ahead of UK time so we should have a short
window of opportunity to connect. What time will you be starting?

Love

Marian and Shaun

Dear Marian and all,

I'm wondering if we could find better ways of sharing what we are
doing and thinking that help to enhance the flows of life-affirming
energy and the values and understandings that carry hope for the
future of humanity and our own? As I write this I've the 1:03 minute
video-clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxJIuUVE0qA) from Marian's
thesis in mind, of Marion and Charlie (see page 189 of Chapter 6 on
Developing Services for People with Dementia at
http://www.jackwhitehead.com/mnphd//6.pdf
), an Altzheimer's patient and her carer (wife and husband).

What could be practical is for you (Marian) to produce with Shaun a
visual narrative that includes clips of your presentation in Australia
on your recent work as national lead on arts and culture for inclusion
and well being and clips of the workshop in which you are exploring
the relationship between creative practice and transformation. You
could also share an account of your practitioner research with those
involved in Singing for the Brain and with the resident dancer on the
long stay ward for people with Dementia?

I'm continuing to explore the possibility that the pooling of our
expressions of life-affirming energy and understandings could be
enhanced through our visual narratives where we connect, (explanatory)
stories of what we are doing, to video-clips that show us expressing
the values that give meaning and purpose to our lives (Marian has
already done this in her thesis). For example, In Andy's edited
collection Creativity|Works
(http://www.jackwhitehead.com/henon/creativityworkslowah.pdf
) that shows his work as a socially engaged artist, Marie makes the
following contribution:

at http://www.jackwhitehead.com/huxtable/mhcreativitywork41to53jw.pdf

If you move to the second page of Marie's account you will see a
'stickie' and a blue edged box. A click on the box should take you to
a 1:15 minute clip of Marie working with Chris in a 'Creativity
Workshop'. At 48 seconds I feel Marie expressing herself with Chris
in a way that resonates for me with the values that carry hope for the
future of humanity. Marie expresses these values in her 2009 paper in
Research Intelligence - the newsletter of the British Educational
Research Association, as loving recognition, respectful connectedness
and educational responsibility (see
http://www.jackwhitehead.com/huxtable/mh2009beraRI107.pdf
). I think this 2 page paper from Marie will repay your attention.
It shows how video-clips can be used to communicate the meanings of
the expression of embodied values. Marie is focusing on researching a
way of being that can be distinguished as inclusive, collaborative,
creative enquiry.

I'm hoping to be able to share next week visual narratives from
Sonia's work with Young Carers and Robyn's reflections on her work as
a Health Visitor with her value of alongsidedness. Je Kan - it would
be good to share your narratives from your practitioner-research in
Japan, China, Tibet, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

Swaroop, Geisha and all , if you would like to share some video on
YouTube (or other streaming server) integrated with your narratives of
what you are doing in Gujurat and Argentina, and you need help in
doing this just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Branko has
also shown what can be done with the reflections on the Conference on
Creativity in Teacher Education in Pozega, Croatia, at
http://ejolts.net/node/144
and the photo album at http://ejolts.net/node/150 . Chris has also
shown what can be accomplished with visual narratives in her masters
dissertation on improving practice as an inclusion officer working in
a Children's Service, at http://www.jackwhitehead.com/cjmaok/cjma.htm .

(Marian and Shaun I'll also get a 'dongle' so that we can try linking
up through SKYPE at some time on the 14th November even though I
might not have a direct internet connection.)

Love Jack
