LEAs will usually have no problem paying for special glasses as a result of
the test. (By the way we refer to it as a Colorimeter test for scotopic
sensitivity. It used to be the Irlen Syndrome Test) Some LEAs will pay for
the test itself while others will not - it depends on their policy.

Subject: Dyslexia/Eye test DSA
Dear all
I'd appreciate advice, comments on following :
I have negotiated DSA funding for a dyslexic student - the usual; PC.,
software,
dictaphone etc. She now wants the LEA to meet the cost of an eye test (the
name I haven't yet received - but to do with colour testing ??), and
spectacles, via the DSA. The student states that she only needs special
specs because of the lighting in lecture theatres, OHP's etc., and she is
experiencing difficulty with her sight as a result. She sees this as
an expense she will have to meet as the DIRECT result of her study.
Many thanks
Jan
