I now have a new date on Monday 19th June at 10.30 for the exhibition visit. This is for free entry to the Hokusai exhibition and a facilitated visit led by one of our great team. I will be able to confirm by lunchtime tomorrow anyone who responds with a request.

Subject: British Museum and Hokusai creative workshops: two-part session available 15th June
Dear ESOL Colleague
We are offering a two-part creative sessions for ESOL Learners. This is building on some fantastic responses we have had to our American Dream workshops in which we have looked at print-making as an artistic form but also in relation to literacy and language. I have had a last minute change to our schedule and we have a session available next week for one class. I do appreciate some of you might have exams and it might be too difficult to organise at short notice.
Session 1 would take place at the British Museum in the Hokusai exhibition. As you might be aware this exhibition has received lots of attention ýin the press and is very busy. We are lucky to have access to the exhibition on special mornings reserved for education groups including ESOL. This means that there is no charge for ESOL learners. In the session we embed language learning through learner-led discussions of some of the key topics the raised in the exhibition. The learners will be taken on a interactive journey with a dynamic and engaging Museum Teacher. The purpose of the visit would be to collect information and ideas for the practical session. The topics discussed will include age, understanding the environment and the landscape around and self-expression through creativity. We will also touch on the power of printing as a medium for sharing and spreading images, thoughts and opinions.
Session 2 would take place at the Centre (we will come out to you with all our kit and equipment) and take the form of a practical creative session using print-making techniques.
Because of access to the exhibition we are fairly restricted by dates. I don't know how this might work with you in terms of exams and the groups at the Centre. We would be able to work with three classes. Children are welcome if this is an issue. The practitioner leading these sessions is not only very experienced in working with ESOL learners but also with early years and runs lots of messy play with under-5s sessions too.
