Hi Dermot,
Thanks very much for sharing this post. My classes have mostly finished
for the year but this has given me some resources and ideas I can use
in the future.
Your thoughts have also helped clarify some of the many thoughts and
difficulties I have had in my head surrounding the result of the
referendum and the racist reactions that have followed. The main one I
am struggling with is how many of my learners wanted to leave the EU.
After the result I tried to think what I could put in an email to send
round to everyone on this list, but I didn't know what to say. I think
that since not many people have mentioned the referendum here may be a
sign that I'm not the only one struggling to come to terms with the
outcome of the vote.
Best wishes everyone for a restful summer in spite of the current
political turbulence- I think we are going to all need a break to
enable us to face what lies ahead for this country politically,
especially regarding ESOL.
