As far as I know there isn't any work with AR and ESOL learners in museums currently. AR is still relatively new and in experimentation with other audiences (usually schools or adults). Whilst Digital Learning is a growing area it's not without its problems - cost of technology, cost of software, priority audiences (usually schools).
Sheffield Museums did a fantastic project on 3D modelling with support material for ESOL. I don't have the link to hand but I am sure you can find it via Google.
