Hi All
I am teaching ESOL to a group of South Asian Students, majority of them are Srilankans.
There was an interesting debate on the class with regards to How to pronounce the word "Salmon".
The pink flesh fish, I taught them that the "L"is silent and its Saemon.
Majority of them say, they fish mongers sell it as Salmon with the "l"sound pronounced.
They need an answer from me to know which is correct.
Please can some one advice me, is this two kinds of fish or what is the correct pronunciation.
Would be great if some one could help.
Thanks
Gnei
