Dear all
I work in a small college that has mostly part-time adult provision and was wondering if anyone could recommend resources to use with teenagers.
Last year we ran a small full-time 16-18 course for ESOL learners. This is a course that had previously been very successful - by which I mean that the students seemed to really enjoy it, participate and progress in their English and then onto other areas. The majority of learners were at Entry 3 with an even mix of male and female and were very varied in terms of their nationalities.
Last year the course was much more challenging. The majority of the students were male, were European and were looked after by social services. We found it very difficult to interest the students in the classes and I do not think that they made as much progress as they could have. Throughout the year we tried different topics, approaches and resources. We tried to get students to give us input into what activities or subjects we could include, but with limited success.
If anyone could suggest resources that have worked for them, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Jon
