Hi
As I am sure you know, since 2013 the FE sector has been ‘deregulated' with respect to qualifications required to secure teaching posts (i.e. the government removed the requirement to have a teaching qualification to teach in the FE and training sector that had been in place since 2002). As I am responsible for delivering the Diploma in Teaching ESOL (Subject Specialist Qualification) in a large college, I would be interested to know how deregulation has impacted on institutions throughout the country. I'd particularly like to find out which qualifications colleges are requiring for new ESOL teachers, e.g. a relevant degree, any degree, a Cert Ed or PGCE, CELTA, the ESOL Subject Specialist qualification, or anything else?
Thanks
Wendy Croft
