Please find below information on LRN call for research proposals for 2013.
LRN CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2013
LRN would like to invite researchers in the field of ESOL, applied linguistics, English language testing and assessment, referencing systems that assessments are based on and other areas that will contribute towards our first calls for proposals for research. All research is funded by LRN and researchers are invited to use LRN assessment products and test data to contribute towards research carried out.
LRN will accept proposals from:
•Doctoral students undergoing PhD thesis in relevant research areas
•MA students undergoing MA / MED and thesis submission
•Graduates of MA/MED / Phd study
PAYMENT
•maximum of £1800 for doctoral / post doctoral students
•maximum of £900 for MA / MED / post MA students
Successful applicants will also be given access to LRN data.
The following research areas are of particular interest to LRN.
•The Impact of IELCA (International English Language Competency Assessment) on language teaching and learning
•A comparison of reading requirements in IELCA test items and in university study
•Evaluating inter-rater reliability in speaking assessments
•The impact of interlocutor behaviour on candidate performance
•the measurements of listening through interactive communication when assessing proficiency in listening
•A comparison of the effectiveness of differing referencing systems used as a common metric for English language proficiency
