Principal Research Interests
Production and Reception Theory of Contemporary Performance.
Practice as Research in Performance that interrogates the nature of the audience in liminal spaces through liminoid acts and invitations.
PaR theory, specifically the documentation of PaR through performative and intermediality.
Bio
I am a 33 year old, female practitioner and scholar with a commitment to making work that explores the notions of community, space and play through a task-based dramaturgy predicated upon life praxis. I am interested in exploring and generating liminal spaces that sit between social and arts practices in order to imagine the potential of new relationships/spaces forged through liminoid acts and play. I have a background in theatre and directing but since 2006 and have shifted into live art and performance art practices.
My practice
I make work that aims to explore the contemporary experience and all the intricate moments that our lives present. My aim is to create art works that are challenging and engaging, that manifest as cultural interventions and ask poignant questions about our lives and existence.I am committed to exercising difficult questions through art in provocative ways, pushing the boundaries of performance both aesthetically and culturally.
I am committed to a collaborative practice in both the way I make the work and the ways in which the work is encountered by the audience. My aim is to produce performance work that involves its audiences at a fundamental level. By employing experimental and compelling performance devices I hope to offer the audience a truly participatory experience. My works seek to explode the liminal space and offer audiences the role of creative participant.
Current Projects/Research
Continue to develop and begin to document my Play with Me: Live Art Intervention par work (see website). I will be looking to develop the PAR aspects of the work by implementing performative documentation strategies but will also be looking to disseminate those strategies in print.

I will be looking to continue PAR work with Dr Karen Savage as KeepHouse Performance exploring the(re)mediation and representation of the female body in Performance.

I am developing a PAR performance piece currently under the working title of ‘I-Spy Pompey’ that will explore the ontology of the audience within immersive theatre practices and will be looking to identify participative strategies for documenting and disseminating those performance practices."
Joe - looking forward to your participations.
Love Jack.
