Hi
These are the exact words written in a letter dated 21/11/11 from the head of vocational assessment to the quality nominee.
I quote: 'As part of the assessment process we will now require you to video S and L tests. This is for puproses of identification of learners. The Guidance and Instructions for conducting ESOL tests 2011/12 gives you specifice info on how to take and store video evidence. As this is a new requirement we will continue to accept audio evidence until 31st December 2011. After this point we can only accept video evidence.'
If you have not seen this letter it also states that they are improving the test structure for E1-3 S and L - marks will be redistributed with a greater weighting in part 2; mark schmes will highlight coverage of the apporpriate criteria in each section and recording templates will be updated and improved which could be all to the good.
I also understand from the senior standards verifier that they are revising ' instructions to assessors documents'. I have pointed out that it says assessors should be familiar with the contents of exams before administering the tests in those documents but in the guidance document it says the exams should be printed off and sealed in an envelope and only opened in learners' presence. You can't do both. I have also asked him if ESOL practitioners are included in consultations re the revisions they are making.
Don't you think that those of us using Edexcel exams should get together and complain about all this confusion they have caused in addition to the questionability of having to video record??
Best wishes
