Subject: [Baalmail] Visiting Lecturer in Psycholinguistics
Visiting Lecturer in Psycholinguistics
York St John University, Centre for Languages and Linguistics
We are looking for a visiting lecturer to teach the Year 2 "Language and Mind" module in our BA English Language and Linguistics programme, from February to May 2012.
The successful candidate will be able to make the subject fresh and interesting for a diverse student body with no background in psychology and little training in linguistics. He/she will have experience teaching undergraduate students in the UK, and will preferably have, or be studying for, a PhD in a relevant area.
The module consists of a weekly 1-hour lecture, immediately followed by two practically-oriented group seminars, also of one hour each, during a 12-week semester (Thursday afternoons, 15:30-18:30, from 02/02/12 to 29/03/12 and 26/04/12 to 10/05/12). Easter vacation is during the first three weeks of April.
Duties also include:
- maintaining a site for the module on our VLE (Moodle)
- one or more office hours per week, depending on student requirements
- marking of a formative test in February (by 01/03/12)
- marking of a summative data-oriented project in March (by 26/03/12)
- marking of a summative final essay in May (by 18/05/12)
Enquiries and CVs should be sent to Chris Hall ([log in to unmask]) by Friday 9th December 2011 at the latest.

“Mapping Applied Linguistics<http://www.routledge.com/books/details/9780415559133/> is far and away the best introduction to applied linguistics we have to date. But it is more than that. It is a major contribution to the very definition and foundations of the field. It will be viewed as a seminal book.”
