Hello all
A message and attachment from Rob Peutrell in Nottingham - the exec summary of Nottingham's Action for ESOL impact assessment. This should be helpful for those involved in making the case for ESOL locally.
Cheers
James

Dear all
Attached Exec Summary of the Action for ESOL - Nottingham local impact assessment. The Full report will follow. This is being sent out to the world and her dog. We met with the woman responsible for EMAG / EAL at city council this morning and are chasing up the Equalities director.
It's gone to key councillors, MPs and college principals, with the Exec Summary gone to all other councillors, headteachers etc. We're arranging to present it to Lillian Greenwood MP. Nottingham is lucky because we have the 'begin' [Basic Ed & Guidance in Nottm] facility who can access a huge amount of local data. Fiona the begin co-ord. pulled all this together with a bit of editorial help from Lynda at NNRF and Pat, from the begin management committee. Dead impressive. The BIS person responsible for ESOL has asked for it too.
Next steps [on this front] are to try and work with city officers to get a view of the effects of the proposed cuts from the city and with local councillors re. political pressure.
Cheers Rob
