I'm working with a consortium of organisations in the London Borough of Newham, Newham ESOL Exchange, aiming to put pressure on the government not to marginalise ESOL provision in the forthcoming spending review. We want to include recent relevant research on the need for and impact of ESOL. I have found the two reports below:
BIS - Economic Impact of Training & Education in Basic Skills (Oct 2009)
NRDC - Teachers of Adult Literacy, Numeracy & ESOL: progress towards a qualified workforce (June 2010)
Time is short and this is a new area to me. If anyone can point me in the direction of other useful documents I would be very grateful.
Thanks,
