Just two weeks to go before the 8th World Congress of the Action Learning Action Research Association in Melbourne. You can access the notes and powerpoint presentation for Alan's (Rayner) keynote for the ALARA World Congress from the What's New section). There is still time to send in urls to your action learning and action research accounts for me to add to our archives.
The latest contributions with urls are from last week's Conference on 'Action Research: Exploring its Transformative Potential' organised by the Action Research Unit Directed by Prof. Lesley Wood of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in South Africa . You can access the programme with all the Abstracts and e-mails of presenters from the What's New section of http://www.actionresearch.net.
The presentations to the conference, from the 'Self-study for Transformative Higher Education and Social Action' group of Durban University of Technology, showed a remarkable transformation from last December when participants in the group were just beginning to make public their accounts. Theme 3 of the NMMU Conference was on 'Creating transformational communities of practice', and in the Abstracts you will see Prof. Joan Conolly's abstract on:
'Transforming our educational practice: Some critical reflections on the educational influence of self-study'
Joan convenes the 'Self-study for Transformative Higher Education and Social Action' group at DUT. You can access the Abstract and three part video of Joan's presentation at:
http://www.actionresearch.net/writings/durban/joanconollyabsnmmu200810.htm
(Each video-clip is under 10 minutes on YouTube)
I think that you might see from the Programme and Abstracts that there are other action researchers in different parts of the world that you would like to share ideas with.
Love Jack.
