I would fight this move tooth & nail! Unfortunately, C&G ESOL exams are badly written; they contain numerous errors in the Entry Level papers; entry level tasks are extremely contrived and confusing for candidates; all levels are onerous to assess & IV, particularly at L1 & L2; the tutor handbook is badly written; guidance for assessors is at best scanty re delivery & marking, especially the portfolio speaking tasks; assessors aren't given training by C&G etc etc etc
do I sound a touch negative? I have worked with these exams for 4 years now & every year the same old problems surface, which are never resolved by C&G, but left to the delivery staff to address. Your organisation would have to invest a lot of time into staff training before you reach the level of confidence you have in an externally assessed exam.
I wish you the best of luck with it,

Dear all,
Our ESOL Department has just been informed that we will be working towards City and Guilds ESOL qualifications next academic year. We have been using Trinity for many years now and are very familiar with the exam tasks and the skills the students need to demonstrate. The teaching staff (myself included) are some what concerned about moving to internally administered qualifications.
Would anyone be willing to share their experiences? Feedback both positive and negative is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Christina D'Cruz
