Welcome to Dr Jill Farrell of Barry University, Miami, Florida, USA who joins the e-
seminar today. Jill is the Program Director for the Graduate Curriculum and Instruction
Programs. There are some more details of Jill's activities at:
http://www.barry.edu/elemEDMSEsol/Faculty/Default.htm
Jill has also been recently elected as Secretary/Treasure of the Self-Study of Teacher
Education Practices (S-STEP) Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research
Association. I saw Jill give a most inspiring presentation at the 7th Castle Conference of
the SSTEP group in 2008 and I just wish it had been video-taped to show the energy-
flowing values that Jill expressed in her presentation. You can see the text of this
presentation on:
Cultivating Collaborative Self-study Living Theory: Laying a Foundation for Teacher
Learning

(Joan - I think the SeStuTHE group will enjoy this paper).
Jill - looking forward to seeing you at AERA in Denver in May.
I think you'll find that you have a lot of interests in common with Joan Conolly and the
Self Study for Transformative Higher Education Group (SeStuTHE) at Durban University of
Technology in South Africa and with the Action Research group with Prof. Lesley Wood at
Nelson Mandela University. I've put some details you might already have seen in the
What's New section of
http://www.actionresearch.net. (Details of the Action Research Conference at the
University of San Diego on the 14/15th May 2010 could be of particular interest).
Without distracting attention from the lively exchanges in other threads I've asked
everyone participating in the e-seminar to help me in facilitating a global dialogue to
explore the foundations, current applications and future hybridisations of Action Research
and Action Learning in the field of Education across all life stages and sectors, on a world
stage. This was included in my brief for the Education and Learning Virtual Networking
Stream of the Action Learning, Action Research Association (ALARA) 8th World Congress -
see the What's New section of http://www.actionresearch.net . I do hope that you will
help to strengthen and extend this dialogue with some details of your ongoing research.
Love Jack.
