Do you want to know more about Adult Learners & Learning?
Some places are still available on our Summer School for language and literacy professionals Linking Learning to Literacies: A Social Practice View
13 - 17 July 2009
Lancaster University Literacy Research Centre Following the success of the 2007 Summer School Linking Learning to Literacies, we are pleased to offer it again in July this year. Whether you are a literacy practitioner, a teacher trainer, a current post-graduate student or researcher, we promise you a stimulating week that will look at the links between theories of literacy and pedagogy, and deepen your knowledge of how adults learn. During the week you will learn about
* Learning and the Adult Learner
* Learning Theories
* Literacy learning in a range of contexts
* Mapping Learning onto Literacy Theories
What previous participants told us about their experiences "Thank you all for the Summer School. It was a unique experience for me. I learned a lot and would love to do it again! I enjoyed the opportunity to meet and hear a wide range of up to date lecturers and through the class and group discussion." (University HE lecturer from outside the UK)
"So much enthusiasm and detailed preparation was impressive. The varied and stimulating approaches were inspiring, with the use of You-Tube and E-conferencing. I have even used You-Tube in my own classrooms since with
great success!" (UK FE Lecturer)
Attendance can be counted towards the annual CPD requirement. It can lead to standalone credit (20 credits at postgraduate level), or towards our Masters in Adult Literacy, Numeracy, and ESOL (MAALNE) programme. However this is not mandatory and the course is open to existing MA students and to anyone who is interested in this area and feels they would benefit from the summer school.
