There is one more day left for postings on the BERA Practitioner-Research
SIG e-discussion on an epistemological transformation in educational
knowledge. We can still access the postings in the archive but the week long
e-discussion finishes tomorrow night.
Because of the educational possibilities opened up by the new BERA e-forum
as the discussions are archived and we can return to the archive to evaluate
the growth of our educational knowledge I'm hoping that you will make a
contribution to the discussion, if you haven't already done so.
Here are the existing threads and you can always create your own:
Introduction
Energy-flowing and values-laden living standards of judgment
Using ontological values in living epistemological standards of judgment
Finding appropriate forms of representation for living educational theories:
A response to Andy Henon
Let's hear it for Living Educational Theories: A response to Brian Wakeman
Philosophical and Methodological Critique of Living Theory
Representing our values in our living educational theories
I like the way Branko, Jacqueline and Pip have made use of attachments to
share their ideas. Jacqueline's attachment of her paper on her work on
indigenous knowledges to be presented on the 15th April 2009 in San Diego
feels particularly significant as it directs our attention to ongoing
research that we can focus on in our practitioner-researcher JISCmail list.
Pip's paper in RI provided the stimulus for the BERA e-discussion on an
epistemological transformation in educational knowledge and I think we have
a lot more work to do in sharing our understandings on different forms of
representation and knowledge-claims in educational research.
In case you want to make a posting before tomorrow night, here are the
simplest instructions again from Jeremy's original message (just be careful
not to post directly from a word document - see below):
Joining the BERA VRE
go to <http://groups.tlrp.org/>
create an account (link below login)
Joining a BERA SIG Worksite (e.g. BERA Practitioner)
If you are already a member of the VRE system then:
log into the VRE
go to "courses and projects" (top menu)
click on "joinable courses and projects"
find the "BERA Practitioner" VRE in the list
click "join" (on the right)
Once you are a member of the VRE and have joined the SIG worksite then it
will be listed on your "startpage" whenever you log in.
How to take part in an online discussion
Log in to the BERA VRE
Go to the BERA Practitioner worksite
Click on "Forums" (left hand menu)
Click on the active e-discussion topic
post your message
NOTE
Do NOT paste text from a Word document into the Forum as it may introduce a
long list of hidden coding in your message.
Please either type directly into the Forum message box or paste plain text only.
If you do post a message which has coding in it you can go back into your
own message and edit it to remove the code (click on 'other actions' on the
right of the message to get an edit tool).
Love Jack.
