Here's wishing you a most pleasurable, healthy and productive New Year.
Congratulations to Branko Bognar on the award of his (practitioner-researcher) doctorate
from Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek in Croatia. Branko writes:
"Having worked for six years as a primary school teacher in the small Croatian town of ,
and then later as a pedagogue in the Primary School ‘Vladimir Nazor’ in Slavonski Brod, I
have now taken up a post in the Faculty of Philosophy at Josip Juraj Strossmayer
University of Osijek, where I have responsibility for the professional education of
pedagogues and teachers."
I'll include an extract from Branko's thesis in the thread on explanations of educational
influence in learning in a later posting.
Yesterday Branko sent on a note to Moira and myself about a special issue on action
research of a professional development journal that is sent to every school in Croatia.
I know that there are communication issue when we do not speak each others' languages
but I felt that you would like to know about the communication of ideas about
practitioner-research in Croatia as Branko writes:
"...maybe you would like to know that the special issue of the journal “Profil akademija”
about action research has been published. In this issue you could find my interview
“Teachers are not realizers of someone else’s ideas but they are owners of changes” (pp.
4-7) and short version of Vesna Šimić’s (pp. 10-11) account about pupils journal at the
Internet (see
http://www.profil-international.hr/files/Profil%20Akademija/Profil%20Akademija%2015-
2008%201-19.pdf)."
I'm hoping that you can access this url. Sometimes, when a url takes up more than one
line you have to copy and paste it into your browser.
Branko - if you receive this I'm wondering if you could post some details of the
international conference on creativity in teacher education to be held in Croatia at the end
of September 2009?
Love Jack.
