Dear Jack,Sarah and all Rockers at Bath:
I have been reading your e-mails, learning a great deal concerning
action research, epistemology and other topics related to education. I am
elated to hear the Rollingstones music as part of a celebration with
educators in the UK. Sarah must feel very proud of her roots coming from
Liverpool the birthplace of the Beatles.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. during the years of the
British group invasion in America. In fact, the week "Not Fade Away" had
its world premiere on Hollywood Palace, my older sister and I met the
Rollingstones in person in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 17, 1964.
I recall the evening prior to this one of my older sisters (I am the
youngest of 8 children) spoke with B. Jones on the telephone about starting
up a fan club & asking him if he was proud to be the first group to beat
the Beatles out of the number one place in recordings in England? I
documented our experiences during these years in an unpublished
autobiographical book "The Autograph Seekers" in which I discuss the
contributions of the 1964 British groups to the American society. My 2
older sisters and I met in person over 150 rock and r & b groups while
attending a local TV show each Saturday named "The Dance Party" during this
period. Some day I hope to have this book published.
Please keep me informed with your vivacious discussions.
Peace,
Cynthia
