Dear Brian,
Thank you for your expert stewardship of the Practitioner Researcher SIG
over the past three years. As fellow Convenor of a BERA practitioner SIG
(Mentoring and Coaching), I can endorse the various and varied aspects you
highlight as constituents of a Convenor's role and add that you have shown
great courage. Not only have you shown us how to confront the potentially
disabling impact of serious illness, you have shown courage in standing up
for what you believe in. As a Convenor for this SIG you have demonstrated
equanimity and calm wisdom. You will be remembered with great appreciation.
Thanks also to your commitment to extending the influence of practitioners'
research to other SIGs, we have a jointly funded Conference on 29 September.
This conference, which is free to attend, is focusing upon how we encourage
and support practitioners' learning through educational research mentoring.
Details of the BERA SIGs/CARN event are at http://www.TeacherResearch.net
Members of this list may also be interested in our e-seminar running from
Saturday 1st-Sunday 30th September on the BERA-TEACHER-RESEARCHER JISClist.
I invite you to join the e-seminar, which will be jointly convened by Keith
Hill of the Teacher Learning Academy, General Teaching Council, and myself.
Warm regards,
Sarah
Best wishes,
Sarah
