Funding has become available to offer an accredited Leeds Metropolitan University module (15 credit points) free to learners from ethnic minority backgrounds in West Yorkshire who are either unemployed or working part time (less than 16 hours). This includes refugees.
The accredited module is called 'Making Your Experience Count' and is aimed at those who would like to have previous work and learning recognised (whether gained abroad or in the UK), those who have done single modules at the university before and would like to build on their achievements and those who would simply like to try out higher education for the first time. There are no formal entry requirements but students will be expected to have a good level of English.
The course will be delivered over 7 sessions (one morning a week for 7 weeks, probably a Thursday) starting at the end of May, at Leeds Met's Civic Quarter campus in the city centre.
If you are interested please contact me for more information as soon as possible
(unfortunately, because of the funding source, we cannot make this course available to asylum seekers)
