Dear all
Here’s a message about the letter we sent to the LSC in November about cuts
to ESOL funding. The letter was signed by 70 people, mostly subscribers to
ESOL-Research.
I have had replies from Mark Haysom (Chief Executive, LSC) and Bill Rammell
(Minister, Lifelong Learning). I’m attaching to this message the original
letter and the two replies. The reply from Bill Rammell has been scanned
into a word document, so the quality isn’t brilliant. I have copied out the
reply from Mark Haysom into another word document, because the scanned copy
generated a file so huge it would have crashed most of your in-boxes. If
you would like me to re-send these letters as attachments ‘off-list’,
please get in touch.
I’ll leave you to judge whether this bit of lobbying has had any effect. To
me, though, the line taken by the LSC/DfES still seems very harsh.
Best wishes
James
