Dear All,
No doubt some SIG members will have received their
EAR Journal volume 14 No. 4 2006, and have read the
editorial with interest (Petra Ponte).
For those who haven't yet had a sight, here is
something to whet your appetite:
"The premise of this issue of Educational Action
Research is that criteria with respect to quality must
first and foremost meet an ethical test: that the work
is directed towards positive change , or in Lewin's
words 'research leading to social action'(1946,
p.203)- that is, that it has a positive and generative
impact on practice, that it is transparent and
accountable to the field of practice, and it is
trustworthy in its nature and enactment. So one could
state that the quality of action research comes down
to a commitment to a set of underlying values,
conceptions and methodological principles, and this
commitment should come with the moral obligation to
justify the why, what and how of the choices that are
made."
I know many colleagues were present at the Joint
International Practitioner Research/CARN Conference in
Utrecht in November 2005 ...and will have had the
privilege of listening to Stephen Kemmis, Julienne
Mayer and others, and participated in discussions
about quality.
But for those of us who could not be there the current
issue of the EAR Journal is worth a good scan.
Regards
