I don't want to sidetrack an important discussion, just to ensure that we
recognize that oppression and colonization can occur in other than
white/nonwhite contexts, and we need to be vigilant to address and challenge
it wherever it happens.
Hi Pip - Sadly, your succinct depiction of a complex social reality is one I
recognise I'm living in and increasingly helping to co-deconstruct, and
co-re/construct too.
"Yaakub, if the BERA conference contribution that Brian wrote about is open
only to those able to attend the conference, do I hear an invitation to do
another joint paper, of the type we almost offered at the World Congress in
South Africa? Or am I reading too much into your 'invitational' comment?"
That's just the possibility of communion that has been the lode guiding my
writing into this BERA list! In terms of my mental well-being, I just wasn't
ready to make an equal contribution before, know what I'm saying, Pip? I'm
not in the BERA space and it's not where I want to be - thinking of tadbir
as a focused yet voluntaristic life affirming energy.
Let's think about where and when: the 'what' will flow as it has here.
Wa-salaam
