Hi Je Kan,
I mailed you in Japan at your address in the Attendee
List as soon as I returned from BERA, but the e-mail
bounced back.
In the e-mail I apologised for your experience.
I felt embarrassed that you had come so far and made
such preparation..........
I'm sure the lack of audience does not represent lack
of interest or any disrespect in our SIG. Rather I
believe the problem may have been simultaneous
practitioner research sessions. I tried to get round
as many presentations as possible this year, to
provide a SIG welcome.
One colleague from another SIG who experienced poor
attendance at some sessions wondered whether the
audiences were down that day due to delegates taking a
day out to see the tourist sites.
As I assembled the papers I was conscious of putting
overseas presentations on earlier in the programme. A
colleague from the Far East had complained to me
at BERA 05 that he had waited until the end of the
conference to present, only to find few in attendance.
Oh dear... right intentions, and right
mindfulness..... but wrong outcome!!
I like the idea of an international symposium next
year on practitioner research. This would give more
status, and respect for colleagues travelling so far
to come to BERA. I attended sessions this year from
colleagues from Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.
These could easily have been assembled as a symposium.
In due course the BERA 07 organising committee will be
sending out information about criteria for symposia
and papers. I'll make sure you receive it. Jack can
advise on the procedure for putting a symposium
together, based on his experience this year.
Would you confirm your e-mail where I can contact you
in Japan?
I am sending a copy to Anne Campbell so the BERA
organising committee are kept informed.
Once again apologies from our SIG for your experience.
Blessings in your work!
Kind regards
Brian
