The next meeting of the Muslims in Britain Research Network - see http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/schoolsanddivisions/academicschools/relig/research/centres/islam-uk/muslimresearchnetwork/index.html - will take place at the University of Leeds, 11am-4pm, on 12 September 2006.
If you are interested in attending please print off the attached form and send it together with your payment to me by 6 September 2006.
In the morning there will be the usual opportunity for roundtable exchange of information on current and prospective research with colleagues from various disciplines and institutions. Postgraduate research students are most welcome. Our invited speaker in the afternoon is Professor Humayun Ansari, Professor of Islam and Cultural Diversity, Department of History, Royal Holloway, University of London, and author of The Infidel Within - Muslims in Britain since 1800 (Hurst, 2004). Professor Ansari will speak about the importance of history in the study of Muslims in Britain and aspects of current research on Islamism in Britain. He will also report briefly on a new AHRC funded project on the Comparative Study of Muslims and Jews in Britain, Europe and North America.
Time will also be set aside for further updates on the future of the network.
