Hello all!
Another new book which relates to ESOL: this time by Mary Hamilton and
Yvonne Hillier. It looks like an interesting read:
Hamilton, M. and Hillier, Y. (2006) Changing Faces of Adult Literacy,
Language and Numeracy: a critical history. Stoke on Trent: Trentham Books.

And a footnote about Kathy Pitt's book. According to the Amazon website, it
has a perfect partner! This is Uta Papen's (2005) Adult literacy as social
practice: More than skills (Routledge Falmer). Yet another good read from
across the Pennines.
