Are there any new legislative provisions enabling such disclosure? If there
are the only way forward would seem to be to challenge the legislation.
Such an unwarranted disclosure of financial data for any purpose to any
person would not seem legitimate in the wider cultural environment applying.
An appropriate balance between principles 3 and 7 would seem to apply in the
circumstances. Unless of course the ethical stance taken by the dominant
social group within the organisation takes no note of any potential
requirements of all the data subjects whose data may be held.

Persons placed at risk by the publication of financial details should have
had knowledge of that publication in ample time to have carried out any
re-arrangements they needed to. Although I cannot recall seeing much public
coverage about this. Who would stand any costs incurred by changes
perceived as necessary?
Hopefully knowing the value of any mortgage your neighbour may have will not
be used in many circles as a power play issue between the individuals
concerned.
