I have followed up an article which my husband found in The Times regarding
Land Register Online - it provides easy public access to details of 19
million properties in England and Wales. If you want to know what was paid
for a property and who the legal owners are you enter the address details -
then you are asked to pay £2 for every document you want to see. I paid
the monies and was shown the document relating to my house and garden - I
wasn't surprised to see our names, or the amount we paid for the property
in 2000 - what I was surprised at was the details of the people we had a
mortgage with -- do other members think this is a bit too personal or am I
being a bit sensitive ???
Would this site have come about because of FOI ? Sorry but I work in
private sector so my FOI knowledge is limited !!
