With the freedom of no longer being DPO and expressing a personal opinion there
are a couple of issues. That is the following three :-)
1. I do think it is relevant as it is sensitive data (ie. the medical history of
the subject).
2. You do make a large(ish) assumption Tim. That DPOs see themselves as being
there to protect their organisation's data subjects. Perhaps - consider -
that they are employeed to protect the organisation first and only by necessity
the data subject. [I do take the view that the organisation would be best
protected and advanced by protecting its data subjects first and foremost, so
don't all tell me].
3. On the original question, do we (Unis) get a birth certificate when students
apply to us? In other words, would we know what is the "original" gender of the
applicant?
