Happy new year all,
What arrangements do other universities have with Social Service
Departments for personal care support in halls of residence (where
the uni does not provide the support themsleves).
We have a student living in halls with 2 CSv's as arranged by
Social Services . this system is unsatisfactory despite our best
efforts to ensure that things have been thought through and
monitored.
We are very concerned about the apparent lack of training and
supervision for CSv's who are supporting students living in halls.
The whole system seems to be precarious, we have a student
whose CSv's simply didnt turn up and was delayed coming into
halls for weeks at the beginning of the year.
We are considering putting a limit on the number of students at
any one time who can live in halls with live in support as the
demands on resources are so high , and may consider saying no
CSv's to Social Services unless they really sort out proper training
and supervision..
To ensure better support for students requiring live in assistance
we need to develop good working practices with Social Service
Depts.I wonder of any other Uni;s have good practice they can
share? For example contracts with SocialService Departments,
guidelines etc?
or are there other ways of getting this support into place?
Many thanks in advance for suggestions.
all the best
