When Antonia Swann (Public Sector - police section - DP Commissioner's
Office) gave me her email address, and the address of the general
Compliance Group, her advice to me was to be patient with them. They deal
with their email in the same way as paper post on a first come first served
basis. Also, the Local Government Section has been reduced down to 2, due
to the departure of a Compliance Officer (a new one should be appointed
soon).
I'm not making excuses for them, but thought it would help to see things
from their point of view. I'm thrilled that we can now email the compliance
section directly ([log in to unmask]) - which is a great step
forward. Previously, if you emailed their only email address
(data@wycliffe...) all emails they received were printed out from a
standalone PC and sent round their office in their internal post system!
Having said that, I sent an email request for their new video on the 6th
March and am still waiting, although some of my colleagues in other local
authorities have received theirs. :-(
I too would welcome someone from their office signing up to this mailbase
list, even on a view only basis, as they would get a feel for many of the
issues we're all struggling with, and could tailor their training material
so that many of the questions raised can be addressed.
By the way, the Publications Section has verbally confirmed that it's OK to
make copies of their video "Barry's Bad Data Day" for use in your
organisation (for training use and not for resale (of course) - with no
breach of copyright.
