Thought that some members of this list may find a guidance document that the
South West Data Protection and Security Group has produced, to be of
assistance. It's basically a guide for practitioners by practitioners -
that has been written for local authorities but may also be of help to other
organisations.
The South West Group is an informal group of Data Protection Officers and
practitioners from local authorities, Police, Probation and Health, who work
together for each other's benefit to share good practice and expertise. We
have established a Special Interest Group that focuses on key DP issues and
produces practical guidance for the benefit of our group that has been
approved by the Office of the Data Protection Registrar.
All proceeds from the document go to the group as a whole to cover the
group's general expenses such as speakers, our fledgling website and venue
costs at our twice-yearly meetings which are attended by Compliance Managers
from the Registrar's Office.
