I see no reason to change the view we have always held, which is that
our contract is with the student, irrespective of who is
paying the fees (we have exactly the same debate with parents
these days) and information cannot be released without the student's
agreement. I do not see that we can standardise on any other view.
If the sponsor has any sense, they will ask the student to sign
an agreement which says that sponsorship is contingent on
the student agreeing that certain specified material shall be
released and provide us with a copy and we can then act on it. Its
not up to us to sort it out for them.
