I think I would argue that if a student is unable to process
information in lectures for reliable notetaking then they will also
be unable to type notes and absorb information. In my books this
would not be an unsuitable recommendation and an unworkable study
strategy. It will also distract and annoy other students trying to
listen. I would also be concerned at the prolonged use of a laptop
and the potential for RSI etc.
When considering any strategy it has to be sound in providing a
workable, sensible solution.
I am not saying no - just think about all the implications and
address the needs of the individual.
