Chris,
Jack Straw clarified this point last week (as did the Evening Standard God
bless em) .... if the kids were on your passport before last October then
you do not need a separate passport for them - they can travel on yours.

Subject: RE: help - passports for kids - does anyone know the answer?
18 months ago I renewed my passport and had my young children's names added
to it (as you could then).
I have just phoned up the private contractor dealing with phone calls re
passports. I was told that ALL children need a passport EVEN IF THEY ARE
ALREADY NAMED ON A CURRENT PASSPORT.
Mind you, this advice began "It is my understanding ...." (as in "it is my
understanding that Barnsley is the best football team in the UK")
I had thought that only people APPLYING for passports are affected.
Can anyone confirm the advice I have been given (ie have they had to get a
passport for their children even though they had a current passport with the
children entered in it)!
