About 15 years ago we bought a car and dult sent of the bit of the log book
to tell the DVLA of change of ownership. When our documents came back it
said the car had had 5 owners. The garage had told us one and they weren't
too happy. The garage owner (luckily an old time pal of my husband, going
back to school days) queried it with the DVLA as the car was only a year
old. It turned out that the number plate had also been issued to a car about
120 miles away and the movements of the two cars were going onto one record.
Our registration was wrong and they issued us with a new one.
