Morning All
I did read with interest the amendment to Data Protection legislation
proposed by M.P's, this would of course enable them to rely upon assumed
consent when requesting details of constituents to enable them to conduct
case work (doesn't the OIC's advice suggest this anyway???).
The discussions have pointed out that some local authorities are requiring
elected members to get the signed consent of constituents who they are
working for prior to any disclosure of information, how many attributing to
this list require this?
Perhaps the question that should be asked is how many elected members are
actually notified with the OIC, and how many have any knowledge of DPA and
its requirements upon them and their surgeries.
