Hi.
I'd say no as students are not entitled to grants for living costs (except
the care leavers grant) including DSAs for work placement years in which
periods of full-time study are less than 10 weeks under Reg 12. There are
exceptions if they are on the placements listed in Reg 12(3)e i.e. unpaid in
a hospital, local authority, prison etc or unpaid research in an
institution. So, it all depends what the student is doing, I reckon.

Subject: Book Allowances
Here's a quickie to kick around.
Is a student with dyslexia still entitled to a book allowance whilst on a
year work placement? DSA eligibility is not in question - only the
entitlement to book allowance.
I've actually already given a decision but I'll let you guess which way I
went for a bit :)
