We had the same thing with both a student and a member of
staff who, like your student, gave written permission for
anyone from the FA team to administer the injection in the
event of collapse. It is like any other First Aid
situation - the first duty is to preserve life, then
prevent further damage - if the choice is between certain
death from asphyxiation and you have only a very limited
time in which to work, you do what has to be done and if
there are other consequences, these may be less horrendous
than watching someone die because you are frightened you
might get sued!
