You could try an expanded keyboard. These are about 24 inches by 8
inches and 2 inches deep, made of steel. I believe it used to be called
the Oldham Expanded Keyboard. I think Maltron took it over, you should
be able to get it from KCS in Southampton Tel 01703 584314. We have 2
here.
Students often find them disconcertingly big. The keys are about an inch
square with about a qurter of an inch between each key.
The problem is that no one has just spread out the keys a few mm.
I have also used a keyboard with a keyguard for students who have
unsteady hands.(Cherry do a flat keyboard which overcomes the
disconcerting feeling some users get when using the middle row of a
dished keyboard with a guard) I appreciate that this may not suit your
student with larger fingers.
You might also look at the Intellikeys keyboard from KCS as well. This
has a touch sensitive pad with overlays in different arrangements. The
overlays have a magnetic strip on the back which the keyboard senses.
You can also design your own layout with a program they supply
separately.
The only other alternative I can suggest is using a normal keyboard with
a couple of pencils with erasers on the end - not very elegant and not
so fast for touch typists but ......
I hope this is helpful.
