Hi Paul,
When we were going through the process of purchasing a laptop computer for students to borrow for exams using Via Voice Gold, we tried a range of configurations, starting from the recommended Ram of 64 meg running on a machine at various speeds from 120 MHz. We found that the processing of the voice is just bogged down when using low speeds and low amounts of Ram. We also used 80 megs running at 166 MHz and still it bogged down. Some of the problems appear to be associated with processor speed.
We have now settled on a machine that runs at at least 266 MHz with 112 megs of ram and 4 gigs of hard disk space as the ideal configuration.
Hope this helps.
