The English subject area in my institution are raising concerns about
students with Dyslexia studying English . On the whole they have a positive
approach but can anyone help with these two points:
1)Is it normal practice for English departments to grant special
arrangements e.g. exam spelling being ignored?
2)What is the situation with final references? Should English tutors inform
prospective employers that their English graduate is dyslexic in a reference
in case the employer wonders why the graduate with an English degree has
difficulites with spelling, for example)?
I'd be grateful for any precedents.
